"Cavino, our wine supplier from Stäfa, has been spoiling us with wonderful wines from southern Europe for ten years," says Managing Director Anna Tayler. "Cavino first bottled quality wine in bags and boxes 25 years ago."

Bag in Box is the name of this solution, which convinced the team from the Militärkantine, because according to a 2010 study in Sweden and Norway, the three-litre bag-in-box beats the glass bottle on all counts. For the same amount of wine, it produces on average less than 20% of CO2 emissions. This is because the bag-in-box requires far less energy to produce than the glass bottle and is much more efficient to recycle. The weight advantage during transport also makes the eco-balance shine. A 2014 study for the Federal Office for the Environment in Switzerland also confirms this.

"After tasting the box wines, we were able to approve this system with a clear conscience," says Tayler. And how is Château-Carton being received by guests? "Of course, you notice a certain reticence, especially among wine lovers. That's why it's up to us to provide visitors with information about bag-in-bag and to give them the best advice based on their preferences."
